![]() Many use the mini.iso, but some have found that a prepackaged Ubuntu (or Kubuntu, Xubuntu or the almighty Lubuntu, etc…) has everything they need so they don’t feel the need to use anything else. With that said, I’ve come across plenty of advanced users who are running Ubuntu. It’s what most people (myself included) will recommend to beginners, whether it’s Ubuntu itself or one of its many flavors, and there’s a reason for that: everything works right out of the gate. Second, is it just for noobs? Ubuntu is the de facto noobie distro. Even if someone was to give you crap for using it, you shouldn’t concern yourself with the opinion of strangers on the internet (I know this is a rather ironic thing to say in an article where I’m giving my opinion, but I digress). To answer the last question first: No one cares what distro you are running (at least, no one that matters). I’ve got a few minutes to kill, so why not give my honest thoughts about it. ![]() “Is Ubuntu just for noobs?” “Will I be a laughing stock if I use Ubuntu?” These are questions that often come around.
